Dealing With Your Toddlers Unhappy Moods

Parenting a toddler is one of the most challenging and heart-opening experiences in life. Or may I say it could be playful experiences too. Your child will have moods. Big moods! Lots of them! Happy, excited, curious, sad, anger and etc. How do you deal with all these ups and downs? What can you really do to help your child feel better? These are some suggestions are to help you find sensible ways to handle your toddlers unhappy moods.

If your toddler is screaming and upset, keep yourself calm. Put your focus on yourself first. At least try it and see what happens. Let see it this way.

Obviously you love your child and you want him or her to feel better. But in order to be the most effective at doing this, you must feel better yourself. Take care of your self first.

Children are emotional magnets and pick up on moods easily. You do not have to believe in any New Age garbage to be able to "feel the mood in the air." Body language and tone of voice speak volumes, and kids are especially open to these things.

Hopefully the situation I explain so far has been relevant. You might also want to consider the following:

During the explanations of airplane safety procedures, they always insist that you put your own oxygen mask on first, and then put the oxygen mask on your child. This is a striking example, and a perfect metaphor for what I am suggesting about parenting a toddler, or any age child for that matter.

How can you help your child feel better or ease their discomfort, if you are not feeling good yourself first? You must show them the way, by being the way. Teach by example. Look within and see if you are feeling uncomfortable. Slow down. Take some breaths. Do this while your child is screaming, and it will help ease the situation.

Shift your attention inward. Parenting a toddler is not easy, but you must find some centeredness despite the chaos. Be willing to try. See yourself as the child. Hold your child as if you are holding yourself.

To put your own mood first is not a selfish or unloving way to be. It will not mean that you do not care about your child. It will mean that you do care about your child. You must open your heart first, and this will subliminally teach your child to do the same.

Parenting a toddler is about loving him or her, is it not? So how do you love someone? You love someone by way of loving your self first.

So thats it. If there is any suggestion about this parenting tips that is not essential, I hope you would mind. We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant to one parent may be crucial to another.

How to Get Your Baby to Sleep Better

One reason your baby have sleep problems is because of colic, it goes hand in hand. And, if your baby is having trouble sleeping, chances are, you are too. So let's help you all get some sleep.

The problem with a baby suffering from colic is they are over stimulated. They seem to have trouble winding down from all the stress they endure throughout the day. Their stress reliever is to cry. But instead of helping them to wind down, the crying often seems to wind them up. The crying gets out of hand, and sleep out of reach. These are some tips you can try to help your baby wind down and help her sleep through the night.

Recognize when your baby is tired

An overtired baby is not a pleasant baby. If your baby is displaying signs of being tired, help them to wind down and put them to bed. Signs of an overtired newborn (infant to 3 months) are:

  • Fussing, whining, crying or screaming
  • Glazed stare, looking away, turning head away, back arching
  • Facial grimaces
  • Clenched fists
  • Flailing arm and leg movements, jerking

Make her crib as inviting as possible

Positioned the crib in comfortable spot in the room, free from drafts. Stay away from heat vents and windows. The crib should have no breathing hazards such as decorative pillows, fuzzy stuffed animals and toys, thick comforters etc.

Take care of the basics

A bath, clean, dry pajamas, a fresh diaper and a content tummy should make your baby comfortable and ready for sleep.

Turn down the lights

Close the blinds, drapes or shutters to block out light. Use a night light so you can check on her if necessary without disturbing her. Aromatherapy can be useful in helping a baby to wind down. Use essential oils of lavender and chamomile for best results.

Turn on the white noise

Your baby spent around nine months in your womb and listened to your heartbeat and other sounds while there. A sound that mimics the noise your baby heard while in the womb is an excellent choice for lulling your baby to sleep. Using a white noise cd routinely will also help mask out other extraneous noises in the house and help your baby sleep sounder and longer.

Be consistent

Babies love routine and consistency. Use the same routine every night. DO NOT VARY. You and your baby will both suffer if you don't stick to a routine. If you stick to this routine, your colicky baby should be sleeping better in no time.

a) Ensure you have sufficient and enough cash or credit availabe before you leave home. Bring along your pen.
b) Arrive early. Buy a catalog or get flyers provides. You can wander around and look at the items for sale more easily at a more leisurely pace. Mark the items that interest you.
c) Mentally, work out what you think you will spend on those items, or write this down on the catalog against the item number.
d) Ensure you find out what the extra fees and charges are that add to the total bid price.
e) Go back to the items you think you will bid on and check them out closely. Look for defects, authenticity and overall condition. Set your bid limit and stick to it. There will be other bargains.
f) Keep your personal belongings safe at all times. Don't let your handbag, purse or wallet out of your possession at any time.

2. During the auction.
a) Listen to the Auctioneer's opening instructions. Take note of payment terms, pick-up and security conditions.
b) Don't be too keen to always bid first. It's best to leave your bidding towards the end when bidding is starting to slow.
c) Get to know how the auctioneer works and what attracts his attention.
d) If you feel you need to start with an opening bid, don't start with a ridiculously low bid. This will irritate the auctioneer and slow down the auction process. Start with a sensible, but low bid, if you want to bid first.
e) If there are many lots and the auction is continuing for most of the day, you may find towards the end of the day people get a bit tired, bored or have left and there are bargains to be had.
f) If the winning bidder has responsibility for their items make sure you know where your items are or collect them and place them together so you can keep them secure as the auction progresses.
g) Don't get carried away with the process. Keep your wits about you. Don't get caught up in a bidding war - unless it is below your set limit. Let others bid it out. Come in towards the last with your bids.
h) Learn how quickly the Auctioneer shuts down the bidding process and moves to the next item. There isn't much time usually.

3. After the Auction.
a) Guard your property, know what is yours. Put it all together in one place, if possible, so you can keep it safe, if this was not done during the auction.
b) Check your records closely against the Auction office records before you hand over that hard-earned cash or credit card.
c) If you lost out to someone for an item you really wanted, why not go up to them after the auction and see if they want to sell? Sometimes this will be successful.

These are just some tips and hints on how you can spend an enjoyable time at an auction, coming away with some bargains, hopefully and saving some real money.

Pre-diet strategies to long-term success

Planning to start a diet? Whether you are dieting to lose weight or get healthier, you're finally ready to commit to a diet. But if you want to succeed, you've got to prepare yourself. Here are nine pre-diet strategies you should follow to ensure the long-term success:

1. Pick the right time to start your diet plan. Any change in lifestyle will take mental and physical energy, which will be tough if you're in the middle of a job upheaval, family crisis or other stressful situation. So before you start your diet plan, make sure you have the time, energy and focus to devote to it.

2. Draw from the past.If you're like most people this probably isn't the first time you've tried dieting. Even if you didn't succeed in the past, you can still learn from what you've done. So ask yourself what worked in the past. Why did it work? On the flip side, what didn't work for you and why not?

3. Clean your environment. Let's face it: Willpower is hard to attain, which is why if your house and office are loaded with foods that tempt you, you're starting with a disadvantage. The solution? Do a sweep of your environment and eliminate danger or trigger foods. Even if you have to keep these foods around the house for your kids, buy brands you don't like.

4. Create a support system.Studies show that people who lose weight and keep it off have good support systems so find someone or tell others to help keep you on track. They could be your family, your friends, your colleagues at work, etc. Or if you prefer, you can always join a weight loss group or turn to the Internet to find buddies. No matter whom you enlist, having this support will help you stay the course, reinforcing your decision to become healthier.

5. Set realistic goals. You've undoubtedly heard this a million times, but if your goals aren't attainable, you're only setting yourself up for failure. "If you set goals you can't reach, you'll become frustrated and will most likely quit," McKittrick says. Just remember that if you're trying to lose weight, the safest, most effective goal is one to two pounds a week.

6. Plan to be active. You'll have the most success if you pair dieting with physical activity. So develop a plan to gradually increase your activity levels. Figure out what activities you enjoy -- salsa dancing and gardening count! -- and then gradually ease into becoming more active. For instance, perhaps you plan to walk 10 minutes three times a week. After a few weeks, increase to 15 minutes. Then add a fourth day.

7. Take baby steps. Rather than making changes at all once, space them out over the course of several weeks, and you'll have a better shot at adopting each change into your lifestyle. For instance, focus on eating two or three more servings of fruits and veggies a day during the first week. The next week, add another habit, like downsizing food portions or reducing your red meat consumption.

8. Focus on the positive. It's easy to feel deprived when you start dieting. After all, you're giving up habits that have been with you for months, if not years. But rather than focusing on the negative, seek the positive. Look at this diet as a way to experiment with new recipes or foods you've never tried.

9. Expect to have setbacks. All of us slip up at one point or another so don't beat yourself up. Instead, just nudge yourself back on track, knowing that slipping up is normal and one little mistake won't make you a failure.

Now are you ready to start your diet? I am... hehehe I've put on weight lately due to lack of physical activities. So I'm planning to start a diet to get the great figure and become more healthier. LOL

How to put on foundation and concealer...

Women have been wearing cosmetics for thousands of years. Archaeologists have evidence of men and women using cosmetics in Egypt over 6000 years ago! Wealthy Egyptian women would paint their nails, massage their faces with creams and oils, apply lipstick and eyeliner, and even color their hair. Obviously, things haven’t changed that much over the last few millennia!

How Do You Put Cosmetics On?
The most important thing before applying makeup is to start with a clean face. A clean face gives you the perfect palate for applying the rest of your cosmetics. A dirty face, on the other hand, will make it much more difficult. Clean face also help keep your skin look clear and healthy.
After you have thoroughly cleaned your face, apply foundation smoothly and evenly. When applied correctly, it should not look like you’re wearing foundation. The purpose of foundation is to smooth out your skin colors to cover up any blemishes and to help you put your cosmetics on better. Your face should feel light and natural. If it is obvious that you’re wearing foundation, or if your face feels like it’s covered with guck, then you’ve put too much on. Also consider if you have the right type of foundation. To work properly, the foundation has to match your skin tone as closely as possible. If you are having trouble picking the right color of foundation, talk to a cosmetics consultant, they always be few consultant on the cosmetics counters at your local department store. If you’ve only put a bit too much foundation on, you can blot at your skin with some toilet paper to remove the excess foundation without having to start from cleaning your face again.
If required, you can then apply some concealer to your face with your fingers. Concealer can be particularly useful around your eyes so any dark circles don’t have you confused for a racoon! No matter where you use concealer, always remember to blend, blend, blend. If the concealer is not blended into the rest of your face, it will only draw attention to the spots your are attempting to cover up.
It is only after you’ve washed your face and applied foundation and concealer that you’re ready to move on to the more noticeable cosmetics such as eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, blush and lipstick.

I guess you have the basic knowledge now to look like Hollywood Starz...hehe :p LOL

A little bit on Perfumes...

Perfumes can be fun to wear. It's make you feel confident, elegant, proud, relax, etc. Finding the right one for you is easy if you know how it reacts with your body. Here are some tips on buying and using perfumes.

When buying perfume always try a sample. Wear it for about 10 minutes before deciding if you like it. This allows the alcohol to evaporate and the oils in perfumes to interact with the oil on the skin and will be a little different for everyone.

Try samples in the late afternoon. The power of smell is stronger during that time of day. When starting a new perfume always use it on only one small area of skin. If there is an allergy to any of the ingredients it's the safest way to discover it. After an hour, if there is no reaction, the perfume is safe to wear.

When wearing perfume put it on the pulse points. The inner wrists, behind the knee, and below the jawline near the ears. The pulse sends out the scent. When testing or wearing perfume don't rub the wrists together. It lessens the effect of the perfume. Don't apply perfume to clothing or jewelry. It can cause stains and even damage jewelry.

Perfume will keep fresher longer if you store it in a cool, dark place since sunlight and heat interact with the oils in the perfume. Don't wear one perfume all year all. Temperatures affect the scent. Cold temperatures reduce the intensity of the perfume so wear stronger scents in the winter. In the summer wear lighter scents. But be warned, bees can be lured to the perfume mistaking it for flowers.

Once you open a bottle of perfume wear it! It will keep indefinitely when not opened but......... once the air has gained entrance to the perfume, it must be used within a year or two at the maxium.

Get the tips from Marilyn Pokorney. Now you can choose your perfume perfectly. LOL

Get Yourself Motivated..!

One thing I know before starting to blog about tips and tricks on various topics is to keep myself motivated. It is my interest to seek for knowledge, and an idea came across my mind to share it with people in need and at the same time learning from others too. Not forgeting, learning from my mistakes hehe...

You can have the greatest dream in the world, or the best education money can buy, or all the best thing in the world but if you cannot get yourself motivated to put it all into action, you will never reach your goals. Motivation is the ability to get yourself moving - is absolutely essential to any successful endeavor. This are some tips you can apply to get yourself motivated.

1. This may sound like weird advice, but energetic, motivated people need to take care of their health. If you feel draggy or unmotivated, you might be dealing with a bit of depression or other stress related illness. Try to get enough sleep, take your vitamins, and get some fresh air and regular exercise. You'll feel more like tackling those dream-related tasks if you feel good.

2. Plan your work and work your plan. Take the time to make a list of the things you'd like to accomplish. List out your goals and give it a plan of action, but just a to do list will make a difference. Prioritize the items on the list so that you will complete the most important ones. Sometimes just checking off the done items can feel like a great reward, and will motivate you to get started on the next one.

3. If you're really feeling lazy, here's an idea. Get a timer and tell yourself you only have to work for fifteen minutes. You can quit when the timer rings. Chances are, you'll get interested in the job, and will feel like keeping on with it when the timer goes off. It's even possible that you will have completed that particular task. Often, tasks don't take as long as we think they will. At the very least, you will have worked fifteen minutes. Give yourself a little break and then set the timer again.

4. Get to know when your most energetic times of day are. Are you a morning person? Then you might be better off handling those jobs that require brain energy in the early hours. Save the groggier afternoon hours for mindless tasks. If you're a night owl, that evening energy can be channeled into productive work.

5. Quit trying to be perfect. In fact, throw that p-word out of your vocabulary. Shoot for done and good enough. Feeling like things have to be done perfectly is an invitation to procrastinate. You don't feel like getting started, because you're afraid you won't do the job perfectly. Well, who does? Accept that no one is perfect, and get started.

6. Break the task into tiny steps. For instance, a writer can break articles down into a sentence at a time. Just write the next sentence. Young mothers with a mountain of things to do have been motivated greatly by this motto: "Just do the next thing."

7. Don't underestimate the value of giving yourself a pep talk. Take five minutes to pump up your resolve. Be your own cheerleader as you work your way through a series of positive affirmations.

These seven tips I get from Terence Young. Hopefully this tips can help you like its help me get up and get going on those days when I really feels like staying in bed and vegetate. So get up, get motivated, and get going! LOL
